Providing an insight into working with reactive dogs, this course examines what is meant by reactivity and the reasons for this kind of behaviour.  Often there is a fine line for dogs when it comes to reactivity, and it can happen a split second. It's of the utmost importance to recognise the build-up and to anticipate before the dog gets to the stage that it has to show his level of discomfort with undesired behaviours because of the situation he's in.

Included:

.         What are reactive dogs?
.         Identification of symptoms, triggers and patterns of behaviour
.         The use of management and prevention along with working with tools that will help put dogs
(and owners!) in a better position to learn and react appropriately.
.         Suggestions to improve relationships and trust, building skills (dog and owner) and working
          through challenges.

Analysis of video material will guide you through the process of observation, handling and management along with demonstrations on how to offer learning opportunities if a dog is present.

It will never be our intention to put dogs in a situation in which they feel the need to react.

This course provides a foundation for future practical courses.
