"He is dominant"

"This is a problem dog";

" As a puppy he was bitten once, and will never be okay again"

“He knows he’s done wrong"

"He is stubborn"

"My dog shows crazy behaviour"

"I've already tried everything, but nothing helps"

"How can I get my dog to unlearn this?"

What is problem behaviour and for whom is it actually a problem? How do people view dog behaviour and what expectations do we have of a dog? What does a dog's behaviour mean and what can we learn from it? Can we speak of normal dog behaviour? How is a problem actually caused? To what extent does emotion play a role?

In this seminar, specially developed for DOGS & PEOPLE, Netherlands, Sheila Harper provides insight into the meaning of problem behaviour, without losing sight of the owner's emotion.

The role of stress and expectations in dogs and humans are discussed extensively. Solutions will also become clear during the seminar.

Like no other, Sheila can make you think about how you influence your dog's behaviour. In doing so, she uses photo and video material. Sheila challenges you to look differently at the behaviour of dogs and the way in which you and the environment play a role. Participation in this seminar will help give you insight into the "problem behaviour" phenomenon and tools to help your dog and / or your client.

This seminar will be given in English

About Sheila

Since taking on her first rescue dog with dog to dog and dog to human aggression, Sheila has lived and worked with a wide variety of challenging dogs. Much of Sheila’s knowledge has come through observing interactions of the dogs she has lived with, learning how they gain skills to face such challenges as resolving conflicts themselves.

Rather than focussing on teaching problem dogs to obey commands, she helps to teach them Real Life Skills, skills they can apply and adapt to any situation, where they can gain maturity and responsibility. In all aspects, the physical and mental well-being of the animal is of paramount importance

Sheila regularly teaches throughout Europe and has also worked in the USA and New Zealand.  Over the last 20 years Sheila has found herself becoming increasingly involved in health aspects including Applied Zoopharmacognosy, nutrition and complementary therapies.
