What to Expect: Life skills for owners and their dogs.
The education of owners and welfare of the dog are of paramount importance in all Sheila Harper programmes and courses.
We aim to offer quality education to owners in order to help them understand and more easily manage their dogs in the real world. Our approach to education is unique: we offer tailor-made programmes designed to fit the needs of individuals. We work towards giving you the skills you need to be able to get the best from your dog in everyday life.
How we work
In partnership with the owners, we design a programme to meet the individual needs of the dog within his or her family group, incorporating a balance of practical work, discussion, information on canine communication, advice on issues of concern and suggestions for progress.
At the start of each course, we assess the needs of both you and your dog and, in the following weeks, you will have opportunity to work on the behaviour or training issues which are important to you.
Where appropriate, and according to progress, we may decide to work independently or with other dog(s) present.
Ideally, much of the time will be spent outdoors in order that your learning is relevant to some of the environments you will encounter in everyday life. Please ensure you have adequate footwear and clothing.
We will always work at the pace, and in the manner, which best suits your dog.
